Our goal is to improve public health. We are a working group of professionals interested in understanding the role surgical care plays in improving the health of people in developing countries.

The Burden of Surgical Disease Working Group promotes collaboration to improve data collection, stimulate analysis, and encourage publication regarding the issue of surgical care in developing countries.

We met for the first time in April of 2008 in Seattle, Washington with support from the University of Washington and Operation Smile. The event drew all sorts of professionals and began what we hope will become a thinking tank for innovative ways to improve public health.

This website is a tool for that working group. A place to post publications, research, or developing thoughts. We hope you take advantage of this resource and contribute as well.

We would love to hear from you. Please feel free to email us:
